Overview

RoBétArmé is a Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Action (RIA) project that aims to revolutionize Construction 4.0 by automating heavy and repetitive tasks in shotcrete application.
The project develops collaborative mobile manipulators for autonomous concrete spraying and surface finishing, improving safety, precision, and efficiency on construction sites.

My Role

At COBOD International, I contributed as a Robotics Engineer to the design and integration of the Shotcrete & Finishing Robot (SFR).

My work focused on:

  • Developing modular motion-control architectures using ROS 2 and EtherCAT.
  • Integrating servo drives via CAN over EtherCAT (CoE) and leveraging ROS 2 controllers for motion and diagnostics.
  • Building simulation and motion-planning tools with MoveIt 2 and Gazebo to validate large-scale robotic systems.
  • Coordinating software integration and testing across multiple European research and industry partners.

Impact

The project improved the integration of industrial servo systems with ROS 2, supporting the development of reliable and scalable robotic solutions for automated construction.
